Eat a peach,
that’s
your
question?
Have you
seen
the waves
today?
How is
it
that
I find myself
here,
at
the
precipice?
Could I
not
just
stay home
by the hearth?
Why
must
I
dare
the elements?
I know why
others
do
as
well
We long
to be
in
the cradle
of
beauty,
to at least
try to
bask
in the arms
of
the
good
Lord
When the
wave
comes
and I catch it,
when
I ride down
its
face
into
the bowl
of shimmering froth,
I
no longer
have
any doubts
I can only
say
to
someone,
anyone,
though no one else is here
(I
may even shout it)
“Look at this!
Look
and
marvel,
and
be thankful,
be
thankful!”
