It took quite awhile
to
figure out
what to say
how to say it
Even how to stand
what
hand gestures to use
But
I wanted to be
sure
to do it well
and
to provide solace
because
indeed
she
would
be
so
devastated
by
what I had to tell her
“Dear,
you are very loved
and you
know that
and
you have so many around you
so
don’t worry if you think you might fall
we
will catch you!
Today
I am sad to say
today
the sun
is not coming out
at
all
at
all
it will be cloaked
behind elements
you
cannot penetrate,
it
will not
shine
even a little bit
so
today
will be
without
sunlight…”
She looked at
me quizzically
and
asked
“Why do you have tears
coming
down your face?
We can still do stuff,
indoors
if need be,
you are
really
silly!”
So I went inside
took
off my coat
hat
gloves
sat down
and
felt very foolish indeed
The whole
time
it was me
who
was
broken
up
about
there being no sun
“Now
if the sun isn’t out tomorrow or the next day then
maybe
we can be upset
but
a day or two here or there
is
just
not that big of a deal
silly!”
